Photographs of dental prostheses
To complete the visual oral examination of an elderly person wearing removable dentures, we have integrated a dedicated photo frame directly onto the packaging of the Odontoscope®.
This frame is designed to standardize the photographic capture of removable dentures by clearly documenting both sides:
-
The intaglio surface: the internal surface, in contact with the oral mucosa.
-
The cameo surface: the external surface, on the tooth-facing side.
The goal is to facilitate precise, comparable, and usable documentation for remote dental expertise (tele-expertise).

Image to Capture – Cameo Surface (without flash)
Photograph the cameo surface of the removable denture – the external, polished side where the artificial teeth are located.
Use natural or ambient light, and avoid using the flash, especially if the prosthesis contains metallic elements, to minimize reflections. Make sure the entire surface is clearly visible and sharply focused to ensure accurate documentation.

Image to Capture – Intaglio Surface (without flash)
Photograph the intaglio surface of the removable denture – the side that rests against the oral mucosa.
Ensure the image is well-lit using natural light or indirect lighting, but avoid using the flash to reduce glare and reflections. The entire surface should be visible and in focus for accurate assessment.
